Alameda County offers multiple free, convenient options for residents to properly and safely dispose of their household hazardous waste (HHW). This service is for residents of Alameda County only.

Residential HHW Drop-off Service: Appointments Not Required

Medicine and Prescription Drugs 

We CAN NOT ACCEPT Medicine and Prescription Drugs at the HHW Facilities. These items can be dropped off at over 80 pharmacies and clinics that have self-service kiosks.

Prohibited Items:

Prohibited items are hazardous materials that must not go in the trash, but can NOT be accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste Facilities. Check the table below to find disposal options for prohibited items.

Business Hazardous Waste

Small Business Hazardous Waste Service

Hazardous waste disposal service for qualifying Very Small Quantity Generators. Create an account and make an appointment.

Business Drop-in Service 

A drop-in service for all Alameda County businesses that accepts: latex paint, aerosol cans, fluorescent lamps, and household batteries. Businesses do not have to set up an account or make an appointment to participate. Learn more and see the schedule.

Residential Landlord Service

Residential landlords can dispose of their tenant's hazardous waste for free. Create an account and make an appointment
