WM EarthCare

WM EarthCare is Waste Management’s line of compost and mulch, produced at the company-owned composting facility at the Redwood Landfill in Novato. The locally sourced feedstock includes food scraps and yard trimmings from Alameda County residents in Albany, Castro Valley Sanitary District, Emeryville, Hayward, Oakland and Oro Loma Sanitary District—about 80,000 pounds each day. WM EarthCare’s Homegrown Compost is listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) and tested in the U.S. Compost Council’s Seal of Testing Assurance Program. Finished compost can be purchased at Waste Management’s “Landscape Centers” at the Davis Street Transfer Station in San Leandro and at the Altamont Landfill in Livermore. In addition, WM Earthcare returns over 800 cubic yards of compost to Alameda County residents each year, through compost giveaways, donations to community gardens and urban farms and other non-profit efforts.
