StopWaste, Oakland to Participate in NRDC Food Matters Tour
May 15, 2019
In June, two participants from StopWaste and the City of Oakland will participate in a study tour in Milan to examine how other cities are tackling the issue of wasted food. Sponsored by the National Resource Defense Council as part of its Food Matters project, the tour will offer participants to see how Milan, a pioneer city working towards cutting 50 percent of its food waste by 2030, has taken a systems approach to make its food system more sustainable. The focus will be on existing and possible urban solutions to prevent food waste, rescue surplus food, and efficiently collect and recycle food scraps.
