Propane

Damaged or empty propane tanks and cylinders are hazardous waste and should never be put in the garbage or recycling. They could become punctured during the collection process and cause a fire or injury.
Disposal Options:
- Propane tanks that are 5 gallons or less in volume can be disposed of at all Alameda County Hazardous Waste Facilities and One-Day Events.

Special Instructions:
- The Alameda County Hazardous Waste Facilities cannot accept compressed gas cylinders other than propane. For information about how to properly dispose of these items, call 800-606-6606.
