Contracting Resources for Sustainable Products and Services
Cooperative Contracts
Alameda County’s General Service Agency (GSA) has many contracts that other public agencies in the area can “piggyback” off of that focus on products and/or services that meet the various Minimum Requirements (and in some cases, Leadership Opportunities) identified in the Sustainable Procurement Guides.
- Piggybacking for Green Purchasing - A “What and How” Guide from StopWaste and Alameda County, including who to contact with Alameda County to “piggyback” off of a contract.
- Alameda County Bid Excerpts – A list of the environmental specifications used by Alameda County by product or service category. If a product or service you are interested is on this list and the specifications meet your agency’s requirements, then consider “piggybacking” off of the applicable Alameda County contract.
- Alameda County Contracting Opportunities – Alameda County posts summaries of their awarded contracts, which you can also use to see if there is an applicable contract your agency could potentially “piggyback” off of. To find applicable contracts, from this page click on the “Closed Bids” link, then filter by applicable category, and then use the keyword search field.
Sample Bid Language
Cities that conduct their own procurement of goods and services can use the sample language provided below in bid solicitation documents (e.g., Request for Proposals, Invitation to Bid).
