The Alameda County Source Reduction and Recycling Board has a vacancy in the category of “A representative of an organization engaged primarily in operating recycling programs within Alameda County.” The appointee must live in Alameda County. Term of the appointment is two years, and board members are eligible for re-appointment to one additional two-year term.

The Alameda County Waste Reduction and Recycling Initiative (Measure D) levies a surcharge on solid waste landfilled in unincorporated Alameda County. Fifty percent of Recycling Fund revenues are disbursed to cities and sanitary districts that meet criteria contained in the law.

The Alameda County Waste Management Authority (StopWaste) has prevailed in a more than three-year lawsuit brought by petitioners Arthur Boone and Antoinette Stein, who opposed development of a new organics facility at the Davis Street Transfer Station (located in San Leandro).
